Science Docent

There is a place for you in the Science Docent program!  Not only do we need those of you who want to lead a lesson, but you and I both know that the really important part is handing out supplies to the kids, walking around with cool things to see up close, gesturing to the posters as if you were Vanna White, helping the kids with spelling in their Investigation Reports, and cleaning up after the experiment.  We also need people in the Gardening Club to help coordinate a few lessons that will make use of the brand new garden.  We will have a school-wide composting week in November that will need some support.  Toward the end of the year, we will need people who are good at rounding up materials for next year's lesssons.  We have a place for everyone, and we can't do it without you!

Click here for a description of the first 24 really cool lessons we have lined up for our inaugural year.  There are four lessons per grade level this year.  Next year, we will add 2 more per grade level, and the year after, 2 more.  Lessons are based on Washington State science standards and teacher input.  You will notice as your children progress from year to year, that each lesson builds upon what the students have learned the previous year.

Each lesson for an entire grade level is held on one day, one class right after another.  This makes set-up, preparation, clean up, and scheduling much easier.  Lessons will be held in the Activity Room, E-37 (the last room past Mrs. Dice), unless otherwise noted.

Stillwater PTSA thanks you for all your help in making this program a success!
