October Volunteer of the Month – Karen Hendrickson

Karen was nominated by Karie Cato and voted on by the PTSA Board of Directors. Here is what Karie had to say about Karen.

“Karen has been our reader board and kid mail person for the last 2 years and we are so appreciative of the help she provides in the communication process at Stillwater. There is always a lot of events going on here at Stillwater and one way of communicating to families just does not work – her consistency is such a gift to us, and we know that the reader board and kid mail make a difference. Thanks Karen so much for mastering this job for us – we are grateful!”

Karen and her husband, Philip, have two children, Sidney age 10 and Aisling age 7.

Karen has been volunteering at Stillwater for five years and she really enjoys volunteering for the Reader Board. She says that “It’s cold and wet but I always know what’s going on and I enjoy being outside.” When she isn’t volunteering, she enjoys spending time with her family and performing in plays and musicals at the Wagner Performing Arts Center in Monroe. She also teaches Hawaiian Dance here in town. When we asked Karen why she volunteers, she said “I think any time I spend with and around my children is important.”

Thank you, Karen, for all that you do to support Stillwater and our community!! Congrats on your nomination and win!

We would also like to congratulate and thank Zoe Anderson who was also nominated for volunteer of the month.
