Reflections 2013-2014: Believe, Dream, Inspire
How do you describe the feeling of a dream? What does it mean to believe or inspire? For some, the answer to these questions is best expressed through the lens of camera, by putting pencil to paper, paintbrush to canvas, or by sitting down with their favorite musical instrument.
Reflections is an annual arts competition spearheaded by the National Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and serves as their cornerstone arts program. Reflections helps highlight the importance of the arts as part of a well-rounded education. When children express themselves through words, pictures, music, dance, and other art forms, they grow intellectually and socially. They learn to analyze their thoughts, feelings, and ideas; learn to look at things, people, and experiences in a fresh and exciting way; and become more interested in the ideas and works of others.
Stillwater students of all grade levels are invited to submit original artwork inspired and created specifically for this year’s unique theme: Believe, Dream, Inspire. Submissions can be entered in the form of visual art, photography, literature, film, music, and dance. Winners will be chosen from each category and all participants will be recognized in a Stillwater Reflections ceremony on Thursday, November 14, 2013. The winning entries at Stillwater then move on to District judging along with the other school entries from the Riverview School District. Those that win at the District level move on to State and then National level judging. This is an exciting opportunity for your child!
How to Enter: Each category has specific guidelines and each entry must be accompanied by an official entry form. More information about guidelines and copies of the entry form will be available soon in both print and electronic form.
