Call to Order @ 7:07

Old Business:

  • Approve last meeting Minutes – No changes and approved
  • Approve Budget Report – No changes and approved and will be filed for financial review

New Business:

  • Guest Speaker Shelly Heinson – Science in the Classroom

More opportunities to think about real world situations. SCIENCE –  If whole word is on board they get extra science workshop

  • Awards:
    •  Heart of the Hawk – Shelly Heinson. Award presented by Christine Hillestad
    • Outstanding Advocate – Kerry Gould. Award presented by Christine Hillestad
  • Volunteer Appreciation
    •  Christine reviewed programs we have had volunteers for. Awards given to those that were at the meeting
  • Pam Deming –WA PTA Convention: 100th convention at a new venue. Business meeting for WSPTA. Business of year gets voted on and taken care of. Retired/reworded by-laws. New resolutions, budget voted on. PTA from across state attend classes, do networking. State Reflections takes place. Give out awards for outstanding advocate, etc. President of Seattle Storm spoke, National principal and teacher of the year. Both spoke of what they have done in their school w/basically no money. Thanked PTA for sending her
  • End of year Books (Financial) review – Checklist of items to look through (deposits, checks written out, paperwork that backs it, looks in order). Linda Brown, Julie Logan and Jae Holt

 

Break

 

  • Introduce Kim Lisk and Shelby Winston. Just finished 2nd year. Need all PTSA in area to form a council. Local, know who all the players are. Can step in and help with situations/questions, etc. Ability to bring all schools together.
  • Budget for 2013-2014 – Pam D disappointed that Library/Music/field trip/teacher spending has been reduced. Not enough put in for training. Not enough for convention. Crystal spoke to the change in fundraising and how it affects overall budgets. Christine made motion to approve budget, Julie second. Proposed budget has passed.
  • Elections:
    • President: Pam Deming (nominated by Shelly Heinson, seconded by Gale Britton). No oppositions.
    • Vice President: Julie Logan and Gale Saunders as co (nominated by Jae Holt, seconded by….) No oppositions.
    • Secretary: Noel Caryl (nominated by Pam Deming). No oppositions.
    • Treasurer: Will be held open until it can be filled
