Tips for Getting Started on a Reflections Project
One of the great things about art is that there are no bad ideas. To participate in Reflections, you don’t need to be an amazing artist, you just need to be able to creatively express the theme in whatever format makes sense to you—from visual art and photography to dance and film. Sometimes, the biggest challenge is just getting started. Here are some tips to help:
- Brainstorm. Take each word from the Reflections Theme, “Believe. Dream. Inspire.”, and after making sure your child understands the meaning, brainstorm some examples. These could include beliefs that you hold, a daydream versus a collective dream or vision, along with the people, places, and things that inspire us.
- Play games using the theme. How could you act out the words dream, believe, inspire? What kind of picture would you draw to explain those ideas to someone who maybe didn’t speak your same language? How could you explain the concepts without actually using the words?
