Reflections Judging: How Does It Work?

One of the interesting aspects of the annual PTSA Reflections arts program is that interpretation of the theme, “Believe. Dream. Inspire.”, is an important part of how each entry is judged and carries as much weight as the creation of the artistic piece.  Each judge is giving a scoring rubric and is asked to assign up to 20 points for interpretation of theme, up to 10 points for artistic merit and creativity, and up to 10 points for mastery of the medium.  The judges are given time to view the art work and the artist statement but have no other identifying information about the student who submitted the work. All measures are taken to help ensure a fair, transparent process, and remove any potential conflicts of interest.  Judges are community volunteers, including professional artists and art teachers, who donate their time and expertise to help make this program a success.

Reflections entries are starting to come in and it’s clear we have some very talented, creative students at Stillwater. There’s still time for your student to get their entry in! The final deadline is Monday, October 28th.
