December Volunteer of the Month – Erin Allen
Congratulations to our December Volunteer of the Month, Erin Allen! Erin was nominated by Stillwater Elementary’s Office Manager, Erika Ashenbrenner. Here is what Erika had to say about Erin:
“Erin volunteers twice a week in our workroom. She faithfully makes copies and laminates anything teachers leave her – relieving the stressors of copying from teachers. In addition to making copies for teachers, she also willingly makes copies for kid mail and hawk feathers and regularly does a supply inventory, taking the pressure off the office staff, as well. We have seen her even take items home to complete (if she runs out of time at school) to bring them back the next day completed. The entire SW Staff is so grateful for Erin and the many ways she supports all the work that happens here. She is the wind beneath our Soaring Hawk wings!”
Erin and her husband Dave have been married for ~3 years. They have two children, Chris age 42 and Paul age 40, who is married to Nataly. In addition, they have two grandkids Emily age 17 and JJ age 5 months. They have lived in Duvall since 1986.
Erin has been volunteering regularly at Stillwater since 2015, however her volunteering for the school goes back to when they first opened in 1989. While volunteering she runs the copy room making copies and laminating stuff for the staff. She also worked at Stillwater for 5 years while her kids were attending school.
When she isn’t volunteering, she enjoys doing craft projects and working in her yard. She also enjoys decorating for most holidays, with Halloween being her favorite. When we asked Erin why she volunteers, she said “I like to volunteer to help keep me busy in retirement. It gets me out of the house and lets me interact with wonderful people. The staff is always so appreciative of my help.”
