October 2017 Featured Volunteer of the Month: Ulrike Staerk!
Congratulations to our October PTSA Star Volunteer of the Month, Ulrike Staerk. Uli was nominated by Amy Pitt and voted on by the Executive Board. Here are a few things that Amy had to say about Uli:
“Uli has been gearing up for the Art Docent position since school ended last year. Over the summer she re-organized, re-wrote and created all new lesson plans for the program. She shopped and organized supplies making sure we could re-use any extra supplies we had and finding deals on the rest. Once school was back in session she not only worked to get Docent’s organized and supplies in order by class projects but did it all while moving to a new art portable. Uli has always volunteered a lot of her time at PTSA events with a smile on her face and a fun attitude. She puts a lot of thought and care into all she does and is extremely vested in seeing Stillwater and the PTSA succeed.”
Uli and her husband Alfon moved to the area in 2006, they have 2 children at Stillwater, Claire, who is in 2nd grade and Alex in Kindergarten. Uli is currently volunteering as the PTSA Art Docent this year at Stillwater. She helped organize and run the fabulous Rock Painting activity at the BBQ as well as our first Pottery Paint Night of the year.
Uli grew up in Germany where she was an OBGYN but since moving here she has been a housewife. When she isn’t volunteering, she stays busy doing Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement), Sumi-e Painting, Tai Chi, Horseback Riding and Gardening. She also teaches Tai Chi at the Sno-Valley Senior Center in Carnation and the Snoqualmie YMCA. Her favorite snack to eat while watching a movie is Popcorn and said that if she could meet and/or volunteer with any “Superstar”, it would be “Michelle Obama! She is an awesome role model for all of us women out there.” When asked what her favorite PTSA event to volunteer for was, she said she couldn’t pick just one since we have so many awesome events. Uli also said, “We have an awesome Staff and PTA here at Stillwater and I am glad that I can help at least a tiny bit to make the school a success for our kids.”
Thank you Uli for all the things you have done for Stillwater and the PTSA!
